The US Army’s 1st Cavalry division 1st brigade, known popularly as ‘Ironhorse’, was welcomed to the National Armed Forces (NBS) Adazi military base Tuesday in a ceremony attended by top American, Latvian and Norwegian commanders, reported defense news portal Sargs.lv.

After the welcoming ceremony the Ironhorse brigade rolled out its heavy armor Abrams tanks and Bradley vehicles for a show.

“We appreciate the support shown by our allies to demonstrate NATO presence in the region,” said Colonel Martins Liberts of the NBS.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for our Ironhorse soldiers – to arrive here and train together with Latvian and Norwegian soldiers. This is an opportunity to create a great professional team under passionate leadership,” said Colonel DiGiambatista. “Texas is a hot place, our tanks are desert-colored and we train in very dry conditions. Here we’ll get new skills and techniques from a completely different environment. What a great way to learn from our northern and eastern European friends.”
